The   Port of  Djibouti  , in partnership with DP World Develops new ambitions

Located in the  South of the Red Sea and at the crossroads of maritime routes ,the most used , the   port of  Djibouti  with its regular services is the main port of the country. It offers a wide range of infrastructures ( eighteen secure and well-equipped quays), a total capacity of more than 10 million tons of goods a year. 

The Djiboutian government have signed with   Dubai  ports World (DP World), in June  2000, a 20-year concession for the management of the port. The objective is naturally to provide a good, secure and efficient service to promote the capacities and resources of the port at the regional and international levels. Authentic label and security guarantee this control over the institution by DP World which  will serve as a springboard to provide confidence to potential investors. 

Entrance door to a ninety-million-inhabitant market,   Djibouti  claims an international stature for its port. 

Furthermore,  Djibouti is part of the COMESA market ( common market of East and  Southern Africa ). This market is huge , covering an area from  Egypt to   Namibia  and gathering twenty member countries  and 380 million people.

The   Djibouti  Port  can already put forward the fruit of this partnerships that can rightly be considered as strategic. In fact for the third consecutive year, the port traffic has been increasing to testify to the quality of the strategy that will certainly lead to its future development.

A container terminal that meets today’s challenges 

The container terminal is run by a specialised service from the management of the port that is responsible for the exploitation of the equipments. The container terminal was created in 1985, it can accommodate third generation post panamax vessels ( 12m deep and carrying up to 3000 EVP ).The terminal productivity has doubled to 28 movements per hour thanks to ‘NAVIS’, a rare performance  in this part of the world. NAVIS is a control and monitoring system for the terminal operations. The computerized management of all the operations  and the simplification of procedures aim  also   reaching quality service of international standard. 

The terminal counts two quays 400m  each. It offers:
